Sport Science Kit - Borrow for your community event
Wednesday 1 February 2012 - Friday 30 November 2012
Get your community group exploring the science behind sports with this hands-on, interactive Sport Science kit.
A mix of fun and serious activities that look at heart rates after sport, the skills required to balance, and other sport-related science activities. Have you ever considered a career in Sport? You might need some Science to go with it!
Activities include:
Seeing how your heart rate changes after exercise with a heart-rate monitor
Testing various common drinks for their glucose content (how much sugar is in diet softdrink?)
Testing how changing your centre of gravity position alters your ability to balance (Can you balance on one leg with your eyes closed?)
Discovering the optimum force required to lift your foot out of ooblek (cornflour slime)
The Sport Science kit is available FREE for community groups to borrow - groups must provide their own consumables including soft drinks, chicken wings, cornflour. (courier fees may also apply, pick-up the kit for free from CSIRO Education, Highett.)
