Science at your Doorstep - CSIRO Education Monday 4 October 2010 - Friday 16 December 2011
Are you looking for innovative activities to offer during the next school holidays or for special events to run during the school term? CSIRO Education is poised to blast kids’ boredom into an alternate dimension by bringing science to your doorstep.
Our science activities are an ideal addition to your holiday program or as a special community event. They cater for children between the ages of seven and twelve years. Our presenters will come to you, or sessions can also be held at the CSIRO Science Education Centre in Highett.
Blood and Guts
Create realistic-looking wounds using stage make-up: cuts, blood and bruises. It is completely safe (but it doesn’t look it).
Make a variety of gooey, rubbery and strange slimes from materials you can find at home.
Water Rockets (Recommended for summer)
Watch those rockets fly! Use water and compressed air to fire soft drink bottle rockets. Investigate launch angle, fuel ratios and Newton’s third law of motion in this hugely entertaining session.
Discover the real science behind disgusting things, including mucus, body odour, poo and all things stinky! Not for the faint-hearted, this activity is guaranteed to gross you out!
