Poster Competition: Earth on the Edge . . . Solutions from Students Saturday 1 January 2011 - Friday 6 May 2011

The 2011 International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) Conference will take place in Melbourne from the 28th June to the 7th July. The theme of the conference is: Earth on the Edge: Science For a Sustainable Planet.

Students can be part of this internationally reknowned and cutting-edge science conference by entering the poster competition. Your poster could be displayed at the conference and viewed by some of the great scientific researchers from around the globe!

Participation in the competition is open to all Australian students. Three categories exist:

  • The 5-9 year olds category for Australian students aged 5-9 years old.
  • The 10-14 years old category,
  • students 15 years old or older are eligible for the Open Category Prizes.

Complete the entry form and include it with your poster to win:
Eligible Participants may enter the competition by going to the IUGG 2011’s website at www.iugg2011.com/poster, completing the entry form and including it with their poster design.

Children will also need to confirm their parent/legal guardian’s permission to enter the competition. Eligible Participants may enter as many times as they like provided a different design is provided with each entry form. Posters must be no larger than A3

The Winner of the 5-9 year olds category will receive:

  • A day of CSIRO Education programs in your school
  • A copy of ‘Stress Free Science Activities’ (provided by CSIRO Education)
  • A copy of ‘Lets Experiment’ (provided by CSIRO Education)
  • A copy of the Science by Email Activities CD, volume 1 (provided by CSIRO Education)
  • Copies of the following from CSIRO Publishing:
    * Australia's Meteorite Craters
    * Polar Eyes
    * Climate Change: What You Can Do About It
    * From the Beginning
    * The Australian Greenhouse Calculator CD-ROM

The Winner of the 10-14 year olds category will receive:

  • A day of CSIRO Education programs in your school.
  • A copy of ‘Lets Experiment’ (provided by CSIRO Education)
  • Copies of the following from CSIRO Publishing:
    * Climate Change: What You Can Do About It
    * From the Beginning
    * Forensics, Fossils and Fruitbats
    * Frozen Oceans

The Winner of the Open category will receive the following from CSIRO Publishing:

* Subscription to Ecos
* Climate Change: What You Can Do About It
* From the Beginning
* Diamonds
